On 11 February, CRGA held a reception at the historic Phoenicia Hotel in Beirut to introduce the work of CRGA to a select group of journalists, academics, civil society and faith community leaders, and diplomats based in Beirut.
During the reception, our Director Ziya Meral introduced the vision behind the Centre. It was followed by a panel discussion on the current issues in the Middle East, featuring Dr Neil Quilliam, acting head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House, and Elie Geranmayeh, Policy Fellow for the Middle East at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).
CRGA also met with the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Dr Abdul-Latif Derian to discuss the work and vision of our centre. Dr Derian warmly welcomed the initiative and provided helpful insights on how best we can contribute to the region.
Our Beirut launch was featured by leading Lebanese daily Annahar. You can read the report in Arabic here.
